A Wish From the Heart

I wish…

What is it that I wish?

It’s name slips away from me,

A feeling that is archaic and intrinsic.

It shies from me whenever I try to uncover it,

An intimate sense of desolation and yearning ringing through my core.

What is this feeling and why is it so powerful and immobilising?

I feel it creep from my heart and slither from my chest,

leaving me vacant and empty.

What do I wish.
