How to be Alone

“How do you deal with being alone?” The child asked,

Tears glittering like diamonds, slithering down his cheeks.

“You speak with your ghosts.” The man answered softly.

His fears, terrible but true, loomed over him like a raging storm, dark and horrible.

Love brimmed the edges of his fears, shimmering like morning sunshine.

In the wake of his anger, the people of his past glittered around him, opaque and glassy.

The boy looked up at him in awe, his eyes reflecting the man in every aspect of him.
