Do the Stars Know my Name?

Do you think the stars know my name?

I speak to them every night,

But I have never spoken my name.

I tell them precious secrets and forgotten lies,

About promises that must never be broken,

And fears that will never reach another’s ears,

But I never tell them my name.

I tell them of love and language,

How the sea is as infinite as their home,

And what it feels like to share a slice of cake,

But I never tell them my name.

I tell them what it means to be kind,

How a person can be patient,

And the way my dreams feel when I wake,

But I never tell them my name.

I have never spoken my name to them,

Maybe I never will.

I wonder,

Do the stars know my name?
