Hold My Tongue

Anger bubbles in my chest,

Burning at my throat,

Hissing in my ears,

Sharpening my teeth.

I want to shriek and screech,

Break my voice and dry my throat,

Hurl curse words and insults,

Make them finally hear me.

Instead, I swallow hard and smile,

Teeth glittering and eyes soft,

Fire burning in my throat,

Stinging my tongue.
