Ghosts

Ghosts are nothing more than a reflection of ourselves.

Hollow and distorted by our fears.

They lurk in places where we dare not enter,

Hiding amidst the darkness of our souls.

They fear nothing for they are nothing but fear,

Their shrieks sending terror through anyone who hears.

In the light of day, they slither to the back of our minds,

Hiding from the warmth the sunlight brings.

If you face them,

You will find the truth.

They are us,

The emptiness within.

Nothing more,

Nothing less.

For ghosts are nothing without a vessel,

And are only as terrifying as we let them me.
