The Stars Say Hello

The stars say hello as I have told them your name.

I’ve told them how your smile curves across your cheeks when you’re happy. They know about the way your breath moves softly through your chest when you sleep, how there is no furrow to your brow as you dream. They know that your voice sounds like home and your hair is softer than silk. They’ve heard me speak of your gifts, your talents, your doubts.

They know how your temper can sometimes control you, that you try to hold everything in until it spills out like a flood. I tell them how your tears look like sapphires, cascading down your face in waterfalls. They know of your fears. They do not judge.

The stars say hello, for they know you well.
